1) Video title: Ms. Noonan: Morning Meeting ***our favorite video of all!***
In this first video, a fifth grade teacher leads her class through Morning Meeting. Rather than starting with a straightforward greeting, these older students begin with a self-reflection and vocabulary practice. This is a well-run morning meeting that has a great balance of the social/emotional component and the academic practice.

2) Video title: Morning Meeting: One-Minute Greeting
The next video is a quick example of doing a one-minute greeting in an upper elementary classroom. If you notice that there are some students who are not doing the greeting correctly, think of it as a teachable moment where students can become aware of how to modify their interactions and behave in a way that is socially appropriate.

Sharing Example
1) Video title: Morning Meeting: Dialogue Sharing with Questions and Comments **another really good one**
Here is a video of a classroom doing the Sharing portion of the morning meeting. Please know that we realize this video shows a very young class, but it is difficult to find free videos of the right grade levels. :) The goal is to have kids practice social interactions and build a repertoire of appropriate responses to news or conversation. Just imagine how you can apply this to your own classroom.

Morning Message Examples
1) Video title: News and Announcements
During this time of the Morning Meeting, the teacher has a message prepared for students and they read it together. The message has some sort of task embedded in it. If you do D.O.L. with your class, this could be the perfect time to incorporate it into your day. If you would prefer to have a math focus, you could do a problem of the day at this time.

2) Video title: 4th Grade Morning Meeting
This is a video that shows one school's typical morning meeting in a fourth grade class. Skip ahead to 6:00 minutes in to see the follow-up to the greeting/sharing activity. It checks to make sure students were listening to each other. Also, there is a calendar reading at the end of the video. When students share information about things happening in their personal lives, those events can then be added to the classroom calendar and acknowledged/celebrated by classmates.

Teaching Routines
Sitting in a Circle: Interactive Modeling
This sounds so simple, but remember that everything needs to be taught, even something like how to sit in a circle for meeting time. Yes, these children in the video are young, but think about how we have to reteach things like bathroom procedures and hallway procedures every year! This is the same concept--making expectations clear. This video shows how one teacher uses interactive modeling to teach her students how to properly join the Morning Meeting circle.
